2021: Implementation of the electronic tip system
On March 26, 2021, Samokat announced the introduction of an electronic tip system from ChaChaChai.
Now every customer of the online retailer can thank the courier for the quick delivery of his order, leaving him a tip directly in the "Scooter" application. This was made possible due to its integration with the ChaChaChai cashless tip system. A customer can tip with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a credit card.
As of March 2021, Samokat, one of the largest Russian express food and home goods delivery services, operates in six cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Krasnodar. In total, they have about 400 darkstores (data for December 2020) - special warehouses from where couriers deliver orders. Every day, Samokat delivers more than 140,000 orders (more than 18 million deliveries were made in 2020).
The company notes that as of March 2021, more than a third of couriers regularly receive tips, and expects that this tool will increase their number to 80%, as observed in taxis.
For integration, the ChaChaChai tip system was chosen. The service was created in 2020 and is already actively working with representatives of catering and taxis. The team is based on experts from the banking and restaurant sectors, as well as developers. Their joint expertise helped bring a flexible system to the market. For each partner, the company offers the most convenient and appropriate way to connect to the service, as well as a model of interaction with customers. For example, in the case of catering, you can leave a tip using the QR code that an employee of a cafe or restaurant receives after registering with the system. Taxi services can use the same method or integrate their application with ChaChaChai, which will allow you to send push notifications to the client with an offer to leave a tip after the order is completed.
According to the creators of ChaChaChai, integration with delivery services is usually more difficult than with players in other markets: "Connecting partners such as Samokat does not do without technical changes and requires an individual approach. This makes the task even more interesting. We need to understand the logic of the application to make improvements to our API. It is also important to consider how the order works, how many people are involved in this process, in order to offer the partner the most appropriate way to distribute tips. As a result of the joint work, Samokat and ChaChaChai have fully integrated their IT systems among themselves. Now each customer of the online retailer 5-10 minutes after the completion of the order will receive a push notification with an offer to leave a tip. If he wants to thank the courier in this way, then right inside the Samokata application, he can go to the ChaChaChai page and leave a tip using Apple Pay, Google Pay or enter his bank card data on his own. ChaChaChai works with any cards of the main payment systems. Secure payments are guaranteed by a secure bank processing center.
We have great respect for the work of couriers. For our part, we strive to create comfortable working conditions by offering decent hourly pay or creating for our employees a special uniform and special places of rest in each darkstore.
