March 25, 2021 it became known that the company "Medicata" brought to the market "Screening of drug appointments" - a service that allows to reduce medical errors.
More than 4,800 doctors of various specialties and more than 300 clinical pharmacists worked to create the service, with confirmed professional experience in the best clinics in Europe. The screening directories contain 185,000 names of drugs, which is how many trade names are registered in Russia as of March 2021. The service also shows the interaction of drugs with each other, namely:
- Analyzes interdrug interaction
- Assesses the level of risk associated with such interaction
- Indicates the timing of reactions (instantaneous, gradual, or delayed action) and the degree of interaction hazard (low, high, or moderate risk)
It is important that screening also takes into account the patient's condition at the time of appointment: assesses the geriatric and pediatric effect, the effect on chronic and acute diagnosis, takes into account the possibilities of taking the drug for allergic reactions, lactation and pregnancy, assesses the immunosuppressive effect and the need for genetic testing.
"Drug Prescribing Screening" is based on European sources of evidence-based medicine and contains refereed professional monographs. The latter are compiled solely on the basis of the proven professional experience of the doctor, and are also refereed and updated by the medical community.
Such screening is a long-sought-after solution in the market, since support services for medical decision-making in the Russian market were practically not presented. Meanwhile, doctors, relying on their own strength, in more than 57% of cases prescribed incompatible drugs, there is also a drug polypharmacy.
We see a great demand for smart technology services in both private and state medicine. Having ruled out a medical error, the service will favorably affect the level of patient confidence. This indicator needs to be adjusted. So, according to a joint study by VTsIOM and the Platform Social Design Center, 41% of Russians doubt the diagnosis or double-check the doctor's appointments. Screening will also have a positive impact on the financial side of the issue. The wrong solution is complications, the development of comorbid diseases, the longest and most expensive therapy.
