2021: MT FREE network extension on 32 trunk routes

On March 25, 2021, MaximaTelecom announced the expansion of the MT FREE network on 32 main routes of the capital's land city transport. Steady Internet access again appeared in more than 1,100 units of rolling stock of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans after a large-scale infrastructure update.

Now, trunk passengers will again be able to use the capabilities of the MT_FREE city network to watch video, listen to music and access other digital services, regardless of the quality of coverage of cellular networks. The average data rate will be at least 10 Mbps.

The technical solution based on the MT_FREE network is designed specifically for moving transport and guarantees stable Internet access for passengers without communication breaks. A confident signal covers the entire cabin, providing stable Wi-Fi coverage, including during peak hours.

In early 2020, we temporarily turned off Wi-Fi on land transport, it did not meet the needs of users for a fast and reliable connection. We heard the requests of our passengers, again held a competition, took into account in the technical assignment the most stringent requirements for providers and returned the Internet to Muscovites on trunk routes. We know that city residents always want to stay in touch - be it an opportunity to send an important email or dial a child via video link. Therefore, we are constantly improving the quality of services and passenger services - and now Wi-Fi on land transport meets all the requests of mobile passengers who always want to be in touch, "said Dmitry Yerzamaev, director of the branch of the information technology and communications service of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans.

The expansion of the Wi-Fi network on the main routes of land transport is one of the important projects that we are implementing in the field of digitalization of the Moscow transport system. The creation of such a network required a special technical solution with a high SLA, which could provide a continuous Internet connection in hundreds of vehicles of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans.
