2021: Bose First Hearing Aid Announcement
On May 13, 2021, the developer of audio systems Bose announced the entry into the segment of solutions for hearing impaired people, introducing its first hearing aid. SoundControl
According to Bose, users can use the appropriate smartphone SoundControl app to set up, program and manage their hearing aids without visiting a doctor, checking hearing or prescription. The cost of the hearing aid is $849.95, initially sales will open (May 18, 2021) in five American states - Massachusetts, Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas, and later the new product will be available throughout the country.
The SoundControl product was developed by scientists, audiologists and engineers based on more than 30 years of research in the field of mobile sound, sound control and data science. The hearing aid is also optimized exclusively for hearing improvement, so it does not support streaming music or calls.
When developing the SoundControl, engineers relied on the technology of CustomTune, which is used in Bose wireless headphones. The user of the hearing aid will be able to enhance quiet sounds in order to avoid tension on the ears, as well as mute the vocal frequencies in order to better hear the surrounding noises. An additional "focus" feature will allow the owner of the SoundControl to concentrate on listening to certain areas, including an interlocutor who talks to the user of the device in the metro.
SoundControl uses standard hearing aids batteries, which, according to Bose, will be enough for four days when used for 14 hours a day. The Bose Hear app is available for iOS and Android devices. Users will be able to change volume, high and low frequencies, as well as other settings at any time.[1][2]
