2021: Aerodisk Engine Storage Installation

Aerodisk, a Russian developer of storage and virtualization systems, installed a domestic storage system in the Roads of Russia. The solutions made it possible to strengthen the organization's IT infrastructure and gradually scale it taking into account growing needs, Aerodisk reported on June 9, 2021.

As part of the project, a storage system Aerodisk Engine with 62 hard drives and a serial exchange interface data with information drives was installed in the Roads of Russia. It housed backup copies the entire IT infrastructure. It is a hybrid storage system that supports Active-Active high availability in a configuration of two to eight controllers in active mode, enabling 99.999% data availability.

"The transport industry is actively introducing new technologies - in particular, intelligent transport systems. In such circumstances, the organizations in the sphere need a powerful and easily scalable IT infrastructure. Contrary to many stereotypes, it can be deployed to Russian developers. This once again proves our project, "said Vyacheslav Volodkovich, general director of Aerodisk. - As part of the project, we were responsible for backing up IT infrastructure data. This is a responsible and important task - especially in the context of the strategic importance of roads and transport throughout the state. "

The project import substitution data storage in the "Roads of Russia" was implemented in three stages. At the first stage, it was deployed system of storage with 32 hard drives of configuration 6 RAID and the ability to "hot swap." At the second stage, the solution was scaled: it expanded into seven disks, which allowed to increase the storage capacity by 24 terabytes. At the third stage, another 18 disks were added - and as a result, another 63 terabytes of memory.

On the installed storage system, Fibre Channel provides high-speed communication. Control is done using Gigabit Ethernet technology. The disks are split between three RDG arrays and are connected by eight logical volumes to the server cluster.
