2021: Tests of ViPNet Quandor on the communication network between Russian Railways and MGTS
On June 24, 2021, Infotecs announced the completion of tests of the quantum system ViPNet Quandor, conducted on the network between MGTS and GVC of Russian Railways.
The purpose of the tests was to demonstrate the correct and stable operation of the quantum cryptographic system for generating and distributing keys on the operated fiber-optic communication line.
ViPNet Quandor is a domestic quantum cryptographic system that executes the quantum key distribution protocol (QRK) and supplies symmetric cryptographic keys with information protection tools.
Confidentiality of information transmitted using this system is ensured by encryption of network traffic using a symmetric cryptographic algorithm using secret keys developed in the quantum key distribution protocol. The persistence of this protocol is based on the fundamental principle of quantum physics - the inability to measure the transmitted photon without changing its state, so the intervention of an attacker cannot affect the formation of secret quantum keys.
The use of AAC technology solves an important task - automatic trusted delivery of secret keys to cryptographic information protection tools without the participation of an administrator.
"Our research in this direction began in 2015, and in 2017 we began close cooperation with Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. During this time, we went from creating the first layouts to a full production cycle and testing our equipment on operational networks, "said Dmitry Gusev, deputy general director of InfoTeKS. - Successfully conducted tests with Russian Railways and MGTS allowed us to once again demonstrate the capabilities of the quantum system ViPNet Quandor to ensure the safe transfer of information between trusted network nodes, as well as the correctness and stability of its operation. "MGTS is actively involved in testing equipment for quantum communications on a fiber-optic network, for which it created a 40 km pilot line between the Main Computing Center of Russian Railways and its Testing Center. We highly appreciate the test results of the tested equipment and hope that its performance indicators will be as high in the process of further long-term operation, "said Dmitry Zinenok, Deputy General Director - Strategy Director of MGTS, a member of the MTS Group. |
