ViPNet Quandor is a complex of quantum cryptographic information protection equipment.

The Infotecs product was created using the principles of algorithm quantum cryptography and is designed to protect information transmitted through telecommunication channels at a speed of up to 10 Gbit/s.

2021

Permission from FSB of Russia for pilot operation

Infotecs on December 7, 2021 announced that the company received permission from the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia for the experimental operation of the quantum cryptographic system ViPNet Quandor. Obtaining permission means the next stage in the development of quantum cryptography in Russia and another step towards the release of such a product on the Russian market.

The technology of quantum key distribution (QRK) solves an important cryptographic problem - the trusted delivery of encryption keys to the SSSI without human participation. A feature of its use is that the system ensures the complete secrecy of the generated encryption keys. The possibility of their compromising by a potential attacker is excluded, since any attempt to measure transmitted quantum states lead to their distortion, which cannot go unnoticed.

Systems using AAC technology are cryptographic information protection tools designed to ensure the protection of confidential information, so they are required to undergo verification for compliance with regulatory requirements. That is why at the stage Design specification for the development of ViPNet Quandor was agreed with the FSB of Russia.

Among the features of the Quandor ViPNet are the presence of a physical generator of true random numbers based on quantum effects, and automatic operation after commissioning. The system also implements a hybrid key system including quantum and pre-distributed keys, which allows, in case of physical failure of the quantum channel and hardware, do not stop encryption. Automatic generation of secret cryptographic keys using the AAC protocol is possible with a quantum channel length of up to 100 km. 05 October 2021, the company "Infotecs" reported that it received a declaration of compliance of the complex of quantum cryptographic system for the production and distribution of quantum keys ViPNet Quandor with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (technical regulations of the Customs Union).

ViPNet Quandor complies with technical regulations "On safety of low-voltage equipment" and "Electromagnetic compatibility of equipment."

2019: Test of the prototype ViPNet Quandor on the current telecom infrastructure

On May 31, 2019, Rostelecom announced that, together with Infotecs, they successfully completed the test on the current telecom infrastructure of the prototype product ViPNet Quandor. Testing was carried out on a fiber-optic communication line between the M10 data center of Rostelecom in Moscow and the laboratory of Skoltech University in Skolkovo with a total length of 58 km.

During the testing of the prototype of the ViPNet Quandor solution, a quantum key distribution protocol was implemented according to the agreed FSB Russia with the terms of reference and its correct operation at the existing IT Infrastructure Rostelecom was confirmed. It was recorded that ViPNet Quandor confidently and stably produces a secret quantum key with a length of 256 bits on average 1 time per minute - this allows to cipher a large amount of user traffic at a high speed. Also, during the tests, the operation of the solution in an automatic mode controlled by a quantum encoder was successfully demonstrated.

The release of the first industrial samples of the ViPNet Quandor product is expected at the end of 2019, the launch of the certification process of the FSB of Russia is scheduled for 2020. Work on the Quandor ViPNet is carried out together with Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Testing of the Infotecs product as a whole completed the test program that Rostelecom conducted with different vendors on the M10 - Skoltech line in the point-to-point topology. As of May 2019, the company is embarking on the next stage - the creation of multi-user experimental data transmission networks using quantum protection, as well as testing prototypes of specific services in the interests of potential customers (after vendors have passed the stage of mandatory certification of equipment and solutions).
