2021: Launch of an Internet access point in the village of Seregovo, Cherdynsky District, Perm Territory

In the village of Seryogovo, Cherdynsky District, Perm Territory, as part of a project to eliminate digital inequality (USN), the first Internet access point from Rostelecom built this year was launched. More than 300 villagers, including the Matveyev family with many children, now use the Internet for free, Rostelecom reported on June 25, 2021.

The Matveev family has fourteen children, seven of whom are schoolchildren. Their house is located in the center of the village, in the area of the Rostelecom access point. The advent of the Internet will help children download books for summer reading, and adults - order online services. The Matveev family and other villagers can now receive distance education, state and municipal online services. Wired Internet, which came to the village as part of the project, also contributes to the development of payment systems and services for small and medium-sized businesses.

"In order for the Internet to appear in Seryogov, the company's employees laid an optical communication line six kilometers long from the nearest city of Cherdyn. Now in the village several dozen private houses and a rural feldsher-midwife station will be able to use the public Internet. The advent of the Internet here also contributes to the development of regional tourism: every year in Seryogov there is a music festival "Heart of Parma." It will be possible to use Wi-Fi at a speed of up to 10 Mbps for tourists coming to this event, "said Peter Kozlovsky, director of the Perm branch of Rostelecom.

"TSC is an important program for the Perm Territory, as it covers small settlements in which there is the most urgent need for access to the Internet. In 2020, the program was adjusted, and now settlements numbering from 100 to 500 people will be equipped not only with Internet access points, but also with basic mobile stations. So, in the future, about 700 settlements will be equipped with Wi-Fi access points, over 100 settlements - mobile stations. Thus, the program will increase the standard of living of the villagers, "said the acting Minister of Information Development and Communications of the Perm Territory Pyotr Shilovsky.

The construction of access points as part of the project to eliminate digital inequality continues: in the near future they will work in Vereshchaginsky (the village of Subbotniki, the villages of Boroduli, Kukety, Nizhny Galino) and Chusovsky districts (the villages and stations of Kutamyshi Selyanka, the village of Central, the villages of Kopalno and Kuchino). In order to connect these settlements, Rostelecom signalmen laid 200 kilometers of optical communication lines. These Wi-Fi stations will work until the end of June 2021.

Points with free Wi-Fi access in small settlements are installed in the center of settlements in such a way that the coverage area includes socially significant objects: schools, libraries and hospitals.

In order to enter the network through the SCP point, the user needs to undergo authorization in any of the provided methods: via SMS or using a confirmed account of a single portal of public services.
