2021: Industrial Robot Presentation

Young researchers from Perm Polytechnic create an industrial robot that can move heavy and dangerous objects. This was announced by the university on July 1, 2021. Such developments are used to transport goods and harmful substances in production, as well as for high-precision surgical operations. According to the researchers, the cost of the robot will be 1.5-2 times lower than its analogues, and a special design will allow it to move loads 5 times heavier.

The authors of the project were Evgeny Tonkov, a student of the aerospace faculty of Perm Polytechnic, and Dmitry Kuchev, a graduate student of the Faculty of Chemical Technologies, Industrial Ecology and Biotechnology.

The peculiarity of our robot is that all the load is distributed not on the shaft of the motor of the manipulator, but on a specially designed mechanism that allows you to move heavy objects with high positioning accuracy. Analogs use drives in hinges, and in our development they are located in links. Thanks to the peculiarity of the mechanical design, the manipulator will be able to withstand loads 5 times more than other devices, "says Dmitry Kuchev, master of the Faculty of Chemical Technologies, Industrial Ecology and Biotechnology of Perm Polytechnic.

The robot will allow you to move heavy and dangerous objects for humans with minimal energy and mechanical costs. According to the developers, it can be used in machine-building and petrochemical production, on conveyor lines for sorting objects, as well as for complex and high-precision surgical operations.

As of June 2021, Perm developers are creating a prototype robot, the next stage will be the receipt of an industrial sample of the manipulator. One of the Perm companies has already become interested in development.
