2022: Creation of a zone of seamless wireless Internet access for passengers of the Okruzhnaya MCD station

On November 16, 2022, TransTeleCom announced that it had organized a seamless network of public wireless Internet access at the Okruzhnaya MCD station.

In early November 2022, the northern lobby of the Okruzhnaya metro station was opened for passengers, combined with the southern lobby of the MTsD-1 station and the MCC station. At the same time, the northern lobby of the Okruzhnaya MTsD-1 station was opened, integrated with the MCC station. Thus, TPU "Okruzhnaya" became the largest interchange hub in the Moscow north in November 2022, combining the metro station, the MCC and MTsD-1, Aeroexpress train as well as the routes of the urban ground transport.

The specialists of TransTeleCom Company have equipped the northern lobby of the Okruzhnaya MTsD-1 station with equipment for wireless Internet access. Thus, with the participation of TransTeleCom, a single Wi-Fi has been created on the territory of the complex - a space where users, having logged in to the network once, receive continuous access to high-speed Internet when moving between different TPU zones, even significantly remote from each other. Earlier, a similar decision was implemented by TransTeleCom specialists at the new Vostochny railway station in the capital and the Aeroexpress terminal in Sheremetyevo.

Network equipment located on the "District" transport node is equipped with specialized communication modules with the controller, which creates a seamless continuous environment for signal transmission. Thanks to this technological solution, it provides convenience for the passenger and the ability to move around the lobbies and TPU platforms, while maintaining stable communication quality and high data transfer rate.

About 40 thousand people transfer to Okruzhnaya every day, and in the next two to three years, thanks to the infrastructure created, we expect an increase in the number of passengers by more than half. By organizing fast and free Internet access with the help of our partners from TransTeleCom, we make the movement of passengers even more convenient. I will add that already 23 MCD stations are equipped with seamless Wi-Fi technology, "said Yuri Bykhovsky, deputy head of the Central Directorate of Passenger Facilities, a branch of Russian Railways.

2021: A pilot project to introduce a wireless Internet access environment at 11 MTsD-1 and MTsD-2 stations

On July 1, 2021, TransTeleCom announced a joint project with the central directorate of passenger facilities of Russian Railways to create a seamless wireless Internet access environment at 11 MTsD-1 and MTsD-2 stations.

The created system combines Wi-Fi networks at passenger stations: (in the zones of pedestrian crossings, concourse, platforms, in the station premises) and in train cars. This creates a single seamless space of access to high-quality and uninterrupted communication even when moving between a train car and various station zones, significantly remote from each other. Once logged in to the network, for example, in the cash zone, the passenger will be able to be in touch when he walks along the concourse, platform, enters the car and continues his trip, and he does not need to rejoin the network.

The complete solution includes the placement of equipment that monitors the location of each subscriber and, when the signal level decreases, automatically reconnects it from one access point to another. Network routers are equipped with specialized modules for communication with the controller, which creates a continuous environment for passing a Wi-Fi signal.

TransTeleCom has long been working in the field of introducing digital services into the transport industry. Many passengers are already familiar with our free wireless internet service at railway stations, stations and stopping points. The project to introduce a seamless Internet access environment has become an interesting technological challenge for us and made it possible to apply the accumulated competencies, - said Roman Kravtsov, General Director of TransTeleCom Company JSC.
