At the end of June 2021, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation announced another tender for the purchase of computing resources for the state unified cloud platform (GEOP). The department intends to spend up to 1.39 billion rubles on the implementation of this purchase .

The Kommersant newspaper wrote about this tender on July 6, 2021, citing materials on the public procurement portal. They say that the winner of the competition will be selected on July 15, 2021, and the provision of computing resources should begin no later than September 30 and continue in stages until 2022.

As explained to the publication in the Ministry of Digital Arts, a new purchase is needed to transfer the information systems of the federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (FOMS) to the "state lock ." By July 2021, the IT systems of the Ministry of Emergencies, the Ministry of Sports, Roshydromet, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, Rosfinmonitoring and the Federal Medical and Biological Agency are also transferred to GEOP .

According to a Kommersant source in one of the major system integrators, the timing and volume of equipment deliveries in this tender indicate that only Rostelecom will be able to fulfill the contract. The company confirmed to the newspaper plans to participate in public procurement, but refrained from further comments.

The description of the previous tender indicated the current location of data centers Rostelecom, but there are no such instructions in the new competition, which "may mean an attempt to make a neutral choice of supplier," the head believes.
