2016: Implementation of the corrugated production planning and management system
In October 2016, Mondi Lebedyan (formerly Bipak, now part of the Mondi group) completed a project to introduce the OMP CSBS corrugation planning and management system . The project was implemented by Enterchain.
The prerequisite for the start of the project was the need for an effective tool for planning the load of production capacities, fixing the quantity of products produced, the duration of tasks and equipment outages in a single information system.
The project aimed to introduce a single industry-specific planning and management platform at the plant, which will:
- perform balancing of corrugated unit capacity and processing lines - plan uniform equipment loading;
- Use mathematical optimization tools when planning and creating a cut
- provide automated counting of the number of blanks in processing;
- synchronize the plans of the corrugated unit and the processing lines taking into account the level of work in process;
- increase the speed of reaction to events in the presence of up-to-date information about the progress of production;
- provide online monitoring of equipment operation.
Like many companies, in 2014, the Mondi Lebedyan plant faced a choice: continue extensive development or improve its production using a system that could increase the efficiency of production management, existing resources and solve the tasks assigned to customers by the company. The company's specialists conducted a study of the offer market and compiled a list of applicants. There was also a company on this list. Enterchain Having evaluated all the advantages of the system "" and ОМР Corrugated and Solid Board System realizing that only it will be able to satisfy all the goals set, the management of Mondi Lebedyan signed a contract for the implementation of the solution in 2015. From the moment of commissioning, the OMP system has provided visualization of production, accurately recording all events on the lines - job starts, stops, number of blanks, etc. This current information is available for on-line viewing and analysis. In terms of planning functions, a tool has appeared for the convenient and visually understandable compilation of cuts and the formation of a queue of tasks on the line. The optimization mechanisms laid down in the system ensured the creation of the best disclosure and queue of tasks, taking into account all the restrictions. The completed cuts began to be automatically unloaded to the corrugated unit controller. Thus, a closed loop was earned - from creating an optimal feasible plan to registering the execution of this plan. Except improvement of management processes of production, the system allowed to improve communications between, logistic production, marketing and service of sales, provided accurate following to the general plan on all supply chain. |
