2022
Gotek Group acquires Mondi packaging business in Russia for 1.6 billion rubles
On December 15, 2022, Mondi announced the sale of the packaging business in Russia of the Gotek group of companies for 1.6 billion rubles. The perimeter of the transaction includes a corrugated board plant and two consumer flexible materials plants.
The agreement does not include the largest asset of the company - Mondi Syktyvkar LPK JSC. Mondi by mid-December 2022 expects permission to sell it to the structures of the owner of Pharmstandard Viktor Kharitonin for €1.5 billion.
It is expected that the transaction between Gotek and Mondi will be completed in the first half of 2023, but the company cannot give an exact date, since, according to its assessment, the process of transferring assets is complicated by the political conditions and restrictions of Russian regulators.
The loss from the disposal of assets following the transaction with Gotek is estimated by Mondi at 70-80 million euros at the exchange rate as of December 15, 2022.
Mondi's packaging business in Russia includes Mondi Pereslavl LLC (Yaroslavl Region, production of food and non-food flexible packaging), Mondi Aramil LLC (Sverdlovsk Region, the only plant in the Russian Federation with a full cycle of production of flexible polymer food, non-food and industrial packaging) and Mondi Lebedyan LLC (Lipetsk Region, production of corrugated cardboard packaging).
GC "Gotek," according to the company itself, is one of the three largest manufacturers in its segment in the Russian Federation. The company specializes in the production of corrugated board packaging, formed paper board, as well as flexible packaging materials. The group of companies includes five production sites in the Kursk, Tula and Leningrad regions: Gotek JSC, Gotek-Polypak JSC and Gotek-Print JSC, as well as Gotek-Center JSC (Novomoskovsk), Gotek North-West JSC (Vsevolozhsky district).[1]
Sale of the plant "Mondi Syktyvkar LPK" for 1.5 billion euros
In August 2022, the Austrian group Mondi, which produces paper under the Snegurochka brand, announced the sale of Russian assets to Augment Investments Limited, co-owner of Pharmstandart, billionaire Viktor Kharitonin. The value of the transaction is 1.5 billion euros, its perimeter includes Mondi Syktyvkar LPK (the largest pulp and paper producer in Russia, which produces Snegurochka office paper) together with two subsidiaries. 2016: Uralplastic-N is part of Mondi Group of Companies
In 2016, after serious, difficult negotiations, Mondi Group decided to buy a stake in Uralplastic. Mondi tested technology and product for almost two years, studied corporate culture, the climate in the team, and the conditions of remuneration. Uralplastic-N became part of the Mondi group of companies - Mondi Uralplastic JSC.
