2021: SAP PP/DS Module Implementation

PJSC Ruspolimet expects to reduce the production cycle duration to 20% based on the results of the transformation of the production planning system. Atos was chosen as the contractor for the project, which announced this on July 13, 2021. Changes are implemented on the SAP S/4HANA core digital enterprise platform using the SAP Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) module.

The prerequisites for the transformation, which were included in the general large-scale transformation of the enterprise, based on the principles of Industry 4.0, were a number of interconnected problems that existed due to the specific areas of work and peculiarities of Ruspolimet production: various approaches in planning, insufficiently developed cross-functional interaction between departments, discrepancies in regulatory and reference documentation. As a result, all this led to an increase in the production cycle, uneven capacity utilization and a deviation in the delivery time of finished products.

With the introduction of the SAP PP/DS module, it was possible to increase the accuracy and calculation of the production unit in terms of capacity balancing, create a single planning system for both organizational and process changes, balance technological routes and reduce the execution time of Ruspolimet orders: from the receipt of a requisition to the shipment of finished products to the customer.

In addition, in order to harmonize regulatory reference information, Atos experts have developed a methodology for planning heat treatment processes with the possibility of using it in the SAP PP/DS system. The Atos team implemented the prototype system in a short time, which made it possible to test the basic functionality of accurate production planning and put it into production already in the early stages of the project.

The main goal of the project is to reduce the production cycle, provide a high level of flexibility and manageability of production processes. Ruspolimet plans to increase the level of customer service and effectively form melting campaigns due to the introduced changes. The implementation of the project also contributes to the expansion of Ruspolimet's presence in the market of low-margin orders, which is a strategically important area of ​ ​ the company's development.

The implementation of the SAP PP/DS module is a logical step in the framework of the large-scale business development project of PJSC Ruspolimet, which is based on the SAP S/4HANA digital platform.
