2021: Launch Global Load Balancer

The company DataLine July 20, 2021 announced the launch of the Global server load balancing service (GSLB).

The Global Load Balancer allows you to distribute the load for applications based on geo-distributed infrastructure: data centers, clouds of several service providers and your own client site. Thus, cloud service helps increase the availability and speed of client applications.

Today's loaded applications often use distributed infrastructure based on remote sites. With it, IT owners get rid of a single point of failure and increase the availability of the application to the end user. However, such a structure requires a tool that helps distribute the load among geographically remote sites with application servers. This problem is solved by the GSLB service, explained in the DataLine.

The Global Load Balancer DataLine built on VMware's NSX Advanced Load Balancer (formerly Avi Vantage) software-driven product. The solution distributes the load of applications located in different data centers, clouds of several providers or client office (hybrid infrastructure). This helps to speed up client services and improve user experience. The balancer also provides high application availability when one of the sites fails: the GSLB redirects user traffic to instances running at other points. The global balancer will also help optimize the use of cloud provider resources in hybrid schemes during peak loads: GSLB will redistribute requests between private and public clouds. The power of the balancer itself is also automatically adjusted - it increases when the load increases and decreases when it falls.

The service also supports applications deployed in containers based on the microservice architecture. In addition, HealthMonitor monitoring is available in GSLB - it can quickly identify the problem, find out the cause of it and fix the problem.

"Thanks to the GSLB service, customers will be able to build infrastructure for the application not only on the basis of a geo-distributed network of sites DataLine in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Udomla and other regions, but also use their own resources and the capabilities of other cloud providers in this scheme. Thus, they will be able to ensure reliable load distribution between sites and protect the business from losses and outages, "said Mikhail Solovyov, director of product development at DataLine.
