2021: Start-up of base stations at Sredevilyu gas condensate field

Rostelecom July 21, 2021 announced the launch of two base stations in pilot operation as part of the project for the construction of a private network of the LTE standard (PrivateLTE, pLTE) for the Yakutsk Fuel and Energy Company (PJSC YATEK). The network pLTE deployed on the territory of the Medieval gas condensate field (GKM) in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). It will provide data transfer to YATEC, taking into account information security requirements, and will become the basis for the introduction of digital technologies in industry.

The main difference between a private LTE network and a public one is the presence of a private pLTE core, which is deployed at the client and connects with the client's corporate data network (SDN). It connects the base stations where the keys to the SIM cards are stored. This ensures proper reliability and safety, explained in Rostelecom.

In total, under the contract, Rostelecom will build and commission five base stations and a central pLTE hub. The used frequency bands of 800 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 2,600 MHz base stations guarantee a high data rate and a wide coverage radius.

"We have already put into trial operation two base stations, we plan to launch all facilities into commercial operation in September. Thanks to the pLTE at the YATEK production, digital solutions will be introduced that will allow remote control of wells and the pipeline transport system, as well as help ensure safety at production, "said Konstantin Voitekhovsky, director of the Sakhatelecom branch of Rostelecom PJSC.

"We are implementing a project for the development of mobile communications at the Sredevilyuyskaya GKM within the framework of the concept of the digital field of PJSC YATEK, approved by the board of directors of the company in 2020. The broadband network of pLTE will become the infrastructure base for the digital transformation of the company, will create the basis for the work of all digital services that can increase the transparency, efficiency and security of business processes, "said Andrei Korobov, General Director of YATEK PJSC. Also, on the basis of the Rostelecom pLTE network, testing of the Smart Helmet, Smart Bracelet and Digital Worker digital services will be launched.

The Smart Helmet software and hardware complex will allow the dispatcher of the enterprise to monitor the location of the employee in real time, monitor his position in space, receive information about the risks to life and health, and also create optimal crawler tracks.

Together with a smart helmet, YATEK employees will receive a smart bracelet that performs ultra-accurate positioning of the employee and detailed monitoring of his state of health. In the event of an incident, the device will automatically transmit the last coordinates of the employee, send an alarm to the control panel and activate a special network for searching. In addition, the bracelet constantly transmits data on pulse, water and energy balance, glucose level and activity state. All information is stored in the system, which allows a more accurate decision to admit an employee to a particular type of work, as well as to analyze potential risks to life and health, even not related to production activities, and to take timely preventive measures.

The Digital Worker service allows you to distribute work according to the qualifications, schedule and location of employees, remotely set tasks for each employee and monitor the process of their execution. When integrated with information systems, the solution can automate the recording, write-off and ordering of materials and equipment, generate time schedules and other labor-intensive supporting operations.

In addition, the enterprise will implement the services "Smart Well" and video surveillance with the function of video analytics. Smart well telemetry will be implemented using NB-IoT technology. The service will allow company employees to manage production facilities at a distance. For example, read pressure and temperature data from wells without power supply. At the same time, the sensor will operate in energy-saving mode on an integrated battery for at least three years.
