Dodge is ABB's engine and generator division, which markets, designs, manufactures, and maintains industrial motors, generators, and mechanical power transmission products. The company's products are used by manufacturers of equipment for sea and river transshipment complexes, as well as elevator equipment, such as GSI Group, Sukup Manufacturing, Chief Industries, Scafco Grain Systems, RAD Equipment. The company produces products at six production sites - 5 in the USA and 1 in China, and its headquarters are in South Carolina. The president of the unit is Roger Costa. By the end of July 2021, Dodge employs about 1,500 employees around the world.

History

2021: ABB sold Dodge to RBC Bears for $2.9 billion

At the end of July 2021, ABB sold its business for the production of mechanical power transmission devices Dodge to RBC Bears. The deal is estimated at $2.9 billion.

The deal is considered the largest acquisition made by RBC Bears by the end of July 2021. It will allow the company to expand offerings beyond the aerospace industry, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Dodge products include hinged bearings, closed gears and bushings for industrial applications. ABB acquired the business as part of the purchase of Baldor Electric Co. in 2011.[1]
