2021: ABB sold Dodge to RBC Bears for $2.9 billion
At the end of July 2021, ABB sold its business for the production of mechanical power transmission devices Dodge to RBC Bears. The deal is estimated at $2.9 billion.
The deal is considered the largest acquisition made by RBC Bears by the end of July 2021. It will allow the company to expand offerings beyond the aerospace industry, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Our businesses complement each other to a great extent: Dodge offers new opportunities, new markets and expands the scope of the combined organization. The combined company will have an attractive position in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets with a diversified customer base and extensive geographical coverage, said Michael J. Hartnett, chairman, president and chief executive officer of RBC Bears. |
Dodge products include hinged bearings, closed gears and bushings for industrial applications. ABB acquired the business as part of the purchase of Baldor Electric Co. in 2011.[1]
