2015: Air Conditioning Organization
Data Center No. 4, located in a service center near the Yuzhnaya metro station, combined a number of advanced technologies that can not only increase fault tolerance, but also reduce energy costs. The data center began work in 2015. Its total area is about 400 m2. Since the building was not initially designed taking into account the location of the data center, it became necessary to carry out construction preparation of the site, including strengthening the floors to the level of 1.5 t/m2. In addition, a false floor with a height of 1 m was installed for laying communications and placing the fan group. STULZ Cooling System
As you know, the main item of costs for maintaining the data center is bills for paying for electricity. Most electricity is spent on heat disposal from racks using a cold supply system. Therefore, particular attention was paid to this aspect during the design and equipment selection phase. There were a number of technological features of the building design that had to be taken into account when choosing a cold supply system, such as the limited free area for the installation of external chiller blocks and noise restrictions due to the location of offices on the second floor of the building.
When designing the climate system, STULZ air conditioners were used as an optimal option in terms of the ratio of specific productivity to the occupied area.
When developing the design solution, we considered various manufacturers of air conditioners. First of all, they compared such characteristics as energy efficiency, dimensions and weight, and also carefully studied the options that simplify the operation process, "says the Vorobyov Vsevolod head of the data center department of the Network Solutions Center of the company Jets Infosystems." - In almost all parameters, the best were the STULZ chillers of the latest line 2 at that time CyberCool. Thanks to the innovative design of the heat exchanger and frame in the same area, we got more cooling capacity compared to competitors. In conditions of limited area of the external territory of the customer, this factor was one of the decisive. |
We tried to take into account the wishes of all project participants: customer services and system integrator, who jointly had to implement this data center. The customer's service was important: the performance of the equipment, the reliability of the proposed system, the convenience, speed and ease of maintenance, and the minimum power consumption of the system. Requirements were also made for the noise level of refrigeration machines of the outdoor installation, since they were to be installed three meters from the office building of the bank, "explained Alexei Kolokolov, project manager of HTS. - For the customer IT service, the versatility of the solution was important so that it was possible to place racks with equipment with medium heat losses (up to 7 kW) in any area of the engine room, and high-load racks (up to 16 kW) in special dedicated two containment zones that provide such heat removal. The integrator needed to get better energy efficiency of the system, minimal dimensions of both internal units - air conditioners, and external units - chillers. There was especially limited space for the installation of refrigeration machines. |
As a result, chillers CyberCool 2 by 943 kW were installed in the data center with a reduced noise emission, minimum power consumption and immediate start-up after a power failure, with 100% power being achieved within only 2 minutes.
Fan groups of internal blocks of precision air conditioners STULZ ASD1350CWU and most of the communications were moved to the false floor, and the cooling system hydraulic module was placed in a separate structure outside the data center. Together, this saved up to 20% of the useful server space. All cold supply routes were laid in the basement. In order not to occupy a useful place, for the equipment, the refrigerators built an extension to the building, including all additional subsystems, such as lighting, fire extinguishing systems, MCDS, etc.
Cabinet air conditioners with a vent group under the false floor made it possible to increase the height of the installation, but reduce its length, which was an advantage in this configuration of the building. The location of the ventilation group in the false floor space made it possible to reduce the noise level (56.3 dB at a distance of 2 m) and the power consumption of the plant (2.7 kW) with a cooling capacity of 91 kW. In the server room, two isolated containment zones are allocated using STULZ CRS560 CW inter-row air conditioners, designed for higher specific power, where high-load racks are located (up to 16 kW). Indoor air conditioners are reserved according to N + 2 scheme.
