2021: Upgrading the educational process based on Microsoft Teams

On August 9, 2021, Softline announced that it had helped the Moscow Financial and Law University modernize the educational process on the basis of the Microsoft Teams online platform.

In the spring of 2020, Moscow financially the University of Law (IFSA), like most the Russian educational institutions, was forced to transfer all educational activities to an online format. In just 3 weeks, Softline, in partnership Microsoft with, helped IFSA set up cloudy solutions for Microsoft 365 a certain pool of users in accordance with the structure of the university and its needs. Platforms were also held integration mail servers with and the opportunity was given to use the Microsoft Teams calendar to plan classes with students. For more than a year, the platform has been used daily by 10,000 students, about 30,000 online meetings are held every month.

Thanks to the Teams platform, teachers have the opportunity to create tasks for practical and laboratory work, attaching the methodological materials necessary for their implementation, as well as to form detailed and transparent evaluation criteria. As soon as the student performs the work, the teacher will receive an alert and will be able to evaluate the task online with the broadcast of comments to the student.

In addition, the platform was used by the university during the state exams. The students' work was uploaded by them to their personal account and then sent for verification to a team specially created at Teams for the state commission. Directly during the state exam, two rooms were created, as in real life: one for students, where they could communicate with each other while waiting, and the second for the commission, where students were invited in turn to pass the exam and protect their thesis. All entries from the exam were automatically saved to the OneDrive.

The provider team managed to solve the customer's problems as quickly as possible. Work was done to combine the Microsoft Teams cloud platform and local mail servers. To do this, the team analyzed, upgraded and integrated the local mail system with the cloud. As a result, we created a solution that made it possible to integrate the calendar with the Teams platform through a hybrid configuration of local mail servers. This solved the university's task of organizing and managing the online educational process in a single information environment, "says Lyudmila Prudchenko, head of the Softline academic sector's key client group.

The university's specialists, together with the Softline team, using advanced solutions for Microsoft 365 collaboration, organized an opportunity for distance learning at IFSA. Now customized services allow us not only to conduct lectures, but also provide interaction with students and help manage educational activities in a pandemic. As a result of the project, we created a kind of "digital" copy of our university, which functioned effectively even when the participants in the educational process were just beginning to master such ways of interaction, - comments Georgy Gorshkov, vice-rector of IFSA.

Ensuring the continuity of the educational process is our common priority. That is why Microsoft with its technologies actively supports various formats of educational institutions and, in particular, the educational process itself, whether it is a traditional full-time, remote or hybrid format. We hope that the use of the introduced tools will allow IFSA to expand its approaches to organizing educational activities and realize additional opportunities, "said Elena Slivko-Kolchik, head of the department for working with Microsoft education and science organizations in Russia.
