The number of hacker attacks on Russian retail in 2020-2021 increased by 117% compared to 2018-2019. Such data were released by Positive Technologies at the end of July 2022.

Positive Technologies warns that, in addition to data theft, which threatens reputational costs for business, experts called a halt in sales associated with the inaccessibility of infrastructure a significant threat: a retailer may lose some of its profits if hackers attack an online store site, ERP system, cash registers equipment or other systems. In addition, attackers can disrupt the storage and transportation systems of goods.
According to experts, the possibility of implementing most threats is associated with insufficient security of services, including sites, so it is important to regularly analyze their security. To prevent attackers from exploiting the shortcomings of web resources, experts recommend using application-level firewalls.
