2021: Migrating Mail Service to the Cloud
Agro-Nova moved the Exchange mail service to the cloud of LanCloud, which announced this on August 26, 2021.
E-mail is one of the main tools for interaction with both suppliers and customers of the company. Every day, several hundred employees use the postal service to receive and send orders, negotiate contracts and exchange accounting documents. Historically, the company's mail service was located on its own servers and was built on the Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 mail server, functionally the service fully suited the needs of the business. But, due to the physical and moral obsolescence of the equipment, quite often there were malfunctions in the operation of the postal service, which led to delays in processing orders and in general negatively affected the work of the company's business. In addition, the Exchange 2010 support cycle was completed on October 13, 2020, i.e. Microsoft has discontinued any patches and patches for this product, which makes its continued use unsafe.
Ultimately, Agro-Nova decided to fully upgrade the mail system, including replacing all servers and building a failover cluster based on Exchange Server 2019. But after analyzing all the costs, including updating the server fleet, purchasing licenses and maintenance costs, the company's management decided to move to the use of cloud services. When choosing a cloud e-mail service, the following criteria were set: the service should be economically feasible, employees should not lose functionality (all basic tools should be preserved, including calendars, tasks, contacts, shared folders, mailing groups, shared access to mailboxes), the presence of anti-virus and anti-spam protection, ensuring a high level of reliability, as well as compliance with Russian legislation regarding personal data.
Having studied all available offers on the market, Agro-Nova chose a cloud mail service Cloud Exchange from LanCloud according to the model. SaaS Cloud Exchange is based on the latest version of Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, providing all the necessary functionality, multi-echelon antispam and solution-based antivirus protection are used, and service Kaspersky Eset Cisco reliability is ensured by multi-node clustering (DAG clusters) and reverse-proxy network balancers, which allows LanCloud to provide financial a warranty SLA of at least 99.9% per month. In addition servers , LanCloud are located on the territory of the Russian Federation in full compliance FZ-152 with with the placement policy. data
The migration of e-mail from the old mail server to the cloud was completely carried out by LanCloud specialists, for this purpose the "Exchange migrator," which is the own development of the LanCloud, which allows you to perform direct migration between any versions of Exchange. Because you cannot directly migrate from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2019, you must first upgrade to Exchange 2016. In addition, the Agro-Nova Active Directory directory service was configured to synchronize with the cloud so that the customer can manage user accounts in their AD, and the LCADSync synchronizer of their own development LanCloud was also used for this.
According to the results, we received working mail without delays and spam, as well as confidence that mailboxes will be available 24/7, "commented Alexey Vasiliev, IT manager of Agro-Nova. |
