2020: Automation of the warehouse in Tashkent
AXELOT on September 28, 2021 announced a project of warehouse automation of a distribution center for the MAKRO- one of the representatives in the retail market in Uzbekistan..
Until recently, the retail chain with a hundred stores worked as it did many years ago. With spreadsheets in Excel and manual checking of each item selection for mismatch. Now all this is left behind. With the help of AXELOT, the MAKRO network took a step forward and became a retailer that introduced the WMS system in the logistics center.
The main reason for such revolutionary modernization was the construction of a distribution center. The task of automation was entrusted to AXELOT. The choice was due to the company's reputation, experience and a large number of implemented projects, both in Russia and abroad. It is also important that AXELOT already had experience in Uzbekistan. This allowed us to begin work as soon as possible, without rocking and familiarization with the peculiarities of warehouse logistics, business and legislation in another country.
The area of the MAKRO warehouse in Tashkent is 8,500 square meters. m., about 4,000 active products are stored there. The main tasks of the project were to eliminate errors caused by the human factor, increase the productivity, quality and speed of processing orders. In addition it was required integratsiyaWMS from AXELOT with a corporate information system.
The task was complicated by the fact that the implementation of the project coincided with severe restrictions due to the pandemic. In conditions of impossibility of flights and close work "in the field," AXELOT specialists mobilized forces on their territory and began a remote format of cooperation. As soon as it became possible, the "landing" of experts moved to the customer's territory and carried out all the necessary work on the spot.
To maximize the concentration on the project goals, a joint decision was made with the customer to change the work schedule in order to adjust it to the specific dates and load of the customer's specialists. Therefore, work on the project could be carried out even in the evening and at night, as well as on weekends.
Taking into account the importance of the project for the company, associated with the need to supply chain stores with vital goods, all possible resources were mobilized. High-quality preliminary preparation and high expertise of the performer helped in the conditions of a narrow "pandemic" window to make the first time a quick launch of WMS in the warehouse.
Integration was also made turnkey. The customer did not have to attract his forces, understand the features of the configuration of the connected systems and exchange mechanisms. The company fully trusted the specialists of the integrator, who performed integration work on the part of ERP, and at the exit received organized information flows that ensure transparency and stability of all business processes of the company.
Thanks to the implementation of WMS and its integration with ERP, all information is not only received electronically, without "papers," but also quickly transmitted between systems.
Thanks to automation, MAKRO has created a single information space that allows you to track the operation of the warehouse and all key indicators in real time. Despite the introduction of automated functions that significantly expanded the capabilities of the warehouse, productivity did not fall compared to the old warehouse. And taking into account the fact that all current data on the warehouse and warehouse balances are now transmitted online, which allows you to quickly carry out planning and adjustments, there is a positive tendency to increase the speed of operation of the entire site.
With the introduction of WMS from AXELOT, MAKRO received an important business quality - an operational response to changing the level of inventory in stores and their timely replenishment almost in the background - and became the first retail network in Uzbekistan with automated warehouse logistics.
The company's management highly appreciated the acquired capabilities - first of all, the availability of the actual inventory condition and the actual results of employees' work online. Therefore, in the future, the company is considering the possibility of starting a project to develop functionality and implement a system for analyzing key performance indicators and automating processes related to motivation of line personnel.
