2021: Death during the assault on the apartment by the security forces
On September 28, 2021 state , the Security Committee (KGB) announced the Belarus death of its employee during the assault on the apartment of company employee Epam Andrei Zelzer.
According to the KGB, the security forces conducted a special operation in one of the houses of Minsk "to work out addresses in which persons involved in terrorist activities could be located."
Andrei Zeltzer lived in an apartment with his 40-year-old wife and child. According to the KGB, the couple filmed what was happening on video "for the sake of hype." The man opened fire on the security forces and mortally wounded one of them. It was destroyed by return fire. His wife was accused of complicity in the crime.
State MEDIA distributed a video where people in plain clothes demand that the owners open the door of the apartment, after which they open it with a "Bulgarian" and break into it.
In other frames shot already inside the premises, a man with a hunting rifle is visible. He waited until the door was broken into, his wife filmed it on the phone (these shots were not made public), as well as a stationary camera, and who installed it is unknown.
Zelzer worked at Epam as the head of the IT development team. Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko accused Chairman of the Board of Directors of Epam Systems Arkady Dobkin of financing Belarusian protests. After the protests began, Epam Vice President Maxim Bogretsov took a vacation, came to the country and joined the opposition, including joining the Opposition Coordinating Council dispersed by the authorities. By October 2021, Bogretsov is again outside the republic.
Andrei Zeltzer and his wife raised their son Vladislav, who at the time of his father's death was in school. From there they called their grandmother and asked them to pick up their grandson. The woman told Our Niva that such a son-in-law can only be dreamed of - "attentive, reasonable, kind."[1]
