2021: Creating Wayforward Machine

Internet Archive, a non-profit organization dedicated to archiving the Internet, has published a forecast for the future of the Global Network. This became known on October 5, 2021.

Over a quarter of a century, the Internet Archive has accumulated about 588 million web pages, and the creators of the project decided to tell how the Internet will be after another 25 years. To do this, they created the Wayforward Machine, a kind of time machine that allows you to see what changes a particular web page will undergo in the next 25 years.

It is worth noting that the future of the Network described by Internet Archive looks very bleak. According to the forecast, end-to-end encryption will be prohibited, technology companies will become even more powerful, and information will be controlled by corporations.

Try our Wayforward Machine to touch the world in which access to knowledge is reliably blocked, the authors of the project said.

In practice, this means that the sites visited by the user will be "filled" with warnings about the restriction of information and firewalls, the data will be under the strict control of a limited number of selected persons, the confidentiality of canets in the Summer, and people will cease to trust online resources.

Many of us trust the Web in such matters as finding culinary recipes, instructions for fixing a lawn mower, new shoes and a second half. The trust is, perhaps, the most valuable asset which we have, and squandering of this trust will become global disaster, - the founder of Internet Archive Brewster of Calais (Brewster Kahle)[1] reported [2].
