2021: Digitization of collections from the White Stone and Archeology foundations

On October 19, 2021, ELAR Corporation announced the creation of digital copies of collections from the White Stone and Archeology funds for the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve - the project was another stage in the creation of the MGOMZ electronic catalog.

In 2021, ELAR experts digitized 70 objects of the White Stone Foundation and 800 objects of the Archeology Foundation. Photography was carried out in RAW format, with further conversion to TIFF, during the shooting contrasting light was used, emphasizing the smallest textual features of the exhibit. Then each image was processed, in the end, the symbols were stamped with the inventory numbers of the exhibits, from which they can be recognized and quickly found in the electronic database.

From the White Stone Foundation, which in October 2021 has about 3 thousand storage units dating from the XIV-XIX centuries, this time fragments of the architectural decor of the church of Nikola "Big Cross" on Ilyinka were removed, - said the keeper of the foundation Anastasia Drobyazko, - a unique and very beautiful church in the style of "Moscow Baroque," built in 1680-1689 and dismantled in the 1930s. From digitized objects, for example, fragments of an octagonal platter of the third tier (the platter is assembled from 16 fragments), details of the carved south porch of the church (volutes, medallions, fragments of the pediment with carved plant ornaments). Of particular interest and beauty are fragments of carvings of the church portal with preserved polychrome painting.

No less unique exhibits were digitized from the Archaeology Foundation - this is a collection of excavations on the territory of Kolomensky, fragments of the white stone decor of the pearl of the museum-reserve - the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The White Stone Foundation is complex for work and study in view of the size and weight of objects, so its digitization is an important process of the museum, "said Anastasia Drobyazko. - In the future, images of the White Stone collections, as well as the Archeology Foundation, will be used for inclusion in KAMIS and the State Catalog of the Russian Federation, for publication on various electronic, and not only, resources, for the study of funds.
