Commvault announced on November 23, 2021 a successful project to implement Commvault in Apollo Tyres, which optimizes backup and automates data protection.

Earlier in Apollo Tyres, backups of data were stored on tape, due to which data recovery was slow and could last even a few days, since it was necessary to find the desired tape and read the backup from it. There was always a great risk that backup data recorded on tape would be corrupted or could not be read when it was necessary to restore, so the company began to store part of the backups on hard disks. As a result, the enterprise IT infrastructure has accumulated large volumes of backups distributed across different sites, which significantly complicates backup management and creates additional problems with data availability.

The old tape and disk backup system was unreliable, so it did not guarantee protection against losing business-critical data.

It was necessary to simplify the backup infrastructure by using a single vendor solution.

Apollo Tyres IT specialists studied solutions from different vendors and came to the conclusion that the use of the Commvault solution would be optimal for their company. Five sites have deployed a backup environment of 5 Commvault HyperScale Appliance systems. Systems are used to back up and quickly recover data from SAP applications, servers, and client devices.

On 1200 desktops and laptops of Apollo Tyres employees, a huge amount of data is stored (almost 2 TB of data is recorded on the disk of each computer). Laptops are often lost or failed. Now data recovery from laptops, which previously took several days, is carried out in just a couple of hours.
