2021: Death from COVID-19 4 months after Sputnik V vaccination

On November 23, 2021, it became known that actor Valery Garkalin, who died of COVID-19 coronavirus, had been vaccinated against this infection a few months earlier.

According to Komsomolskaya Pravda (KP), citing a source in healthcare, the medical record of Valery Garkalin indicates that the artist underwent the Sputnik V vaccination course in May 2021. He fell ill with coronavirus four months later, and on October 2, 2021 he was hospitalized with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.

Later, the actor was connected to a ventilator and introduced into a medicinal coma. Doctors fought for the life of the artist for several weeks, but it was not possible to save him - on November 20, 2021, Garkalin died. He was 67 years old.

KP writes that earlier in November 2021, TV presenter Larisa Guzeeva, who also lay with coronavirus in a hospital in Kommunarka and was in the neighboring ward with Valery Garkalin, said that the artist was not vaccinated against coronavirus at all.

Music producer Yevgeny Fridland said that the certificate of vaccination against coronavirus from Valery Garkalin was bought and that, allegedly, Garkalin himself admitted this in the hospital.

However, on November 23, 2021, Garkalin's 23 daughter Nick denied these claims. According to her, the artist was vaccinated in the summer with two components of Sputnik V. Prior to this, he was also vaccinated with the CoviVak vaccine, but he did not develop antibodies.

On November 19, 2021, Denis Logunov, deputy director for scientific work at the Gamalei Center, said that there were no deaths from vaccination against a new coronavirus infection with Sputnik V. Infectious disease doctor Yevgeny Timakov, in turn, called Sputnik V the most effective vaccine, since it prevents the serious course of the disease, fatality and the disease itself.[1]
