2021: Launch of a chain of stores
On December 6, 2021, it became known that Perekrestok launched a new network of small stores (up to 300 square meters. m.). These outlets will feature a limited range of the most popular products.
Stores under the brand name "Jam Crossroads" will be located within walking distance from offices and residential areas. The first store has already been opened in Moscow, by the end of 2021 two more will appear in St. Petersburg.
A distinctive feature of the new project was a high share (60%) of fresh products - fruits, vegetables, dairy products, baking, ready-made food. In the already opened store there is also a cafe with a landing area. The company promises that in this format of stores, prices will not differ from those in classic supermarkets.
In the first store "Jam Crossroads" there is a cafe with a landing area, which is separate from the trading room, visitors also have Wi-Fi and the ability to recharge gadgets. For convenience, self-service cash desks operate in the store. In addition, containers for collecting used batteries and plastic bags are installed, which will be sent for recycling in the future. Express delivery of products through the Crossroads mobile application, which is carried out for 30 minutes, is also available to residents within a kilometer radius from the new store.
Analysts polled by Kommersant call the Crossroads mini-format promising: according to Marat Ibragimov, senior analyst at Gazprombank, small stores at home, online and specialized retail will grow faster than the market in the near future. Mikhail Burmistrov, general director of Infoline Analytics, agrees with him - he told the newspaper that formats with a high share of cooking, fresh category and cafe area are already actively developing supermarket chains in Europe.[1]
