2021: Agreement to equip utility gas meters with SIM chips NB-IoT
MTS and the Rostov scientific and production association Turbulence-Don have concluded an agreement on strategic partnership in the field of the Internet of Things. This was announced on December 6, 2021 by the director of the MTS branch in the Rostov region Igor Maryasov.
As part of the agreement, MTS will equip utility meters produced by the plant gas SIM with chips NB-IoT (Narrow Band IoT). Thanks to this, devices will be able to automatically transmit readings to a resource-supplying organization, keep records of gas consumption, monitor illegal consumption, as well as detect leaks and fix them so that residents do not overpay for a communal apartment.
The NB-IoT technology has improved radio penetration, so the meters will work stably both in multi-storey buildings and in the private sector. Devices with SIM chips can NB-IoT work without special maintenance and battery replacement for up to 10 years.
{{quote 'Smart counters collect and process data automatically and can synchronize with the management company billing. This avoids calculation errors and reduces billing time from a few days to a few minutes. Smart counters help fight fraud. Often in apartment buildings you can encounter a difference in the readings of individual and common house metering devices, which sometimes disciplined energy users are forced to compensate for. To avoid disputes due to the difference in readings, it is enough to read data on all metering devices at the same time, and smart metering devices and technology will help, NB-IoT said Igor Amural, chairman of the board of directors of Turbulence-DON Group of Companies. }}
The Internet of Things is used in various areas, but is most in demand in housing and communal services. Using the IoT system, you can quickly detect flooding in the basements, gas leakage, fire and even illegal penetration into the premises. Smart devices can automatically monitor the health of elevators and fix defects in the engineering equipment of the house. To actively introduce IoT technologies in all sectors, we annually expand the coverage of a special network for the Internet of Things NB-IoT MTS, launched in the Rostov Region in 2018. Tens of thousands of devices can connect to such a network at the same time, "said Igor Maryasov, director of the MTS branch in the Rostov Region[1]. |
