Sberbank buys American network equipment Brocade for 1.46 billion rubles

December 24, 2021 Sberbank will summarize the results of the request for quotations^[1] for the supply of equipment for network modernization (Data Storage SHD). The bank only needs a SAN solution (Storage Area Network). Under the Brocade terms of the purchase, either the North American manufacturer itself or its certified partners can take part in it. The declared maximum price is $19 836,752,98, taking into account, this is VAT a little more than 1.46 billion (at the rubles exchange rate as of December 9, 2021). Three applications were submitted for participation, on December 21 the results of the request were summed up. The winner offered to deliver a set of equipment for $19 440,017,92, including VAT, or at the rate as of December 21 - 1.44 billion rubles.

Sberbank to purchase 20 sets of SAN Brocade equipment

Sberbank buys 20 sets of Brocade X7-8 storage systems with delivery and installation at two sites - Moscow, Ryabinovaya St. - 53s4 and ATsOD7 (Moscow, Podolsky Cadets St., 15B, p. 7). Moreover, the bank admits that the second site may not be ready by the time the equipment is delivered, in this case the equipment will be installed in the Sberbank data center at the Skolkovo Innovation Center (Bolshoi Boulevard 64 page 1).

Sberbank explained to TAdviser that the equipment is being purchased to modernize the existing network, which is built on the Brocade solution. All Brocade and OEM partners are allowed to participate in the purchase, which includes the entire range of suppliers who can provide equipment and services for its expanded support.

At the opening of the data center, Sberbank's project director Sergey Shurshalin told TAdviser that domestic solutions are widely used in the new data center in Skolkovo - they are present at the level of infrastructure, software, and computing. Sberbank reluctantly reveals the names of the products used in the data center, explaining this with concern for cybersecurity.

Under the terms of the tender, in addition to the supply of equipment and software, the contractor must install it and maintain it in 24/7 mode for five years.
