Amazon closes Alexa global site attendance rating

Alexa Internet is a subsidiary of Amazon and is widely known for its global ranking system, which uses web traffic data from its partners to compile a list of the most popular Internet companies. In addition to the global site rating system, Amazon's Alexa also offers a complete set of search engine optimization (SEO) tools and competitive analysis with a paid subscription. The traffic rating was determined based on data received from users who had the Alexa toolbar installed in the browser. Since 2020, the service has not used the toolbar, but instead uses data from users who have installed any of a number of browser extensions on which the Alexa script is installed. The product was used to rank sites based on tracking a sample set of Internet traffic, users of the toolbar service for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers .

Amazon has already stopped offering new subscriptions, and customers with existing subscriptions will continue to have access to Amazon data and SEO tools. Existing subscriptions will remain active until May 1, 2022, and after this period access will be canceled. Similarly, Amazon APIs will be decommissioned on December 8, 2022. According to Semrush, which is a SaaS platform for managing online indicators, Alexa's organic traffic is constantly declining, so it is possible that Amazon is discontinuing the service due to a significant drop in its popularity in the world.[1]
