2021: Implementation of an automated 3D design system

On December 20, 2021, Softline announced the introduction of an automated three-dimensional design system using BIM technology at the Polyus gold mining company. The Bentley Systems software will allow the customer to create information models of buildings, which will help to solve difficult problems in the construction of new facilities in a short time.

The automated 3D design system on the Bentley Systems platform will enable the Polyus group of companies on a single platform to cover all stages of creating an object - from the design of each of its parts to the moment of commissioning.

During the implementation, Softline made a large amount of software improvements to realize the specific needs of the customer, catalogs of typical BIM elements were made - three-dimensional objects that designers use for design. As of December 2021, the system operates in all disciplines and allows you to design a comprehensive industrial construction facility.

As a result of the successful implementation, Polyus put the system into industrial operation and began designing technologically complex facilities using BIM technologies. So, for example, several production blocks of gold extraction factories were modeled. Due to the use of BIM technologies, the speed of designing and coordinating documentation has increased significantly. The integration of BIM systems, regulatory information, and procurement management has eliminated unnecessary inefficient workflow steps where data is collated, calculated, and recorded manually. Now construction documentation is issued automatically in the BIM system, specifications are formed taking into account the accumulated procurement information.

Until recently, different stages of work in the design of new facilities were carried out in disparate software tools, and we decided to switch to a more technological system. The use of BIM greatly facilitates interaction between designers, builders, top management and investors in the construction of a new facility. 3D models allow you to improve the accuracy of calculations and more accurately set tasks for contractors. As a result, the duration of construction projects is reduced, the number of errors due to the human factor is reduced, and the possibility of overspending of construction materials is practically excluded. Cooperation with Softline was extremely productive: despite the complexity of the project, it was successfully implemented in a short time. In addition, this software can be customized individually for any customer requirements, which often turn out to be more stringent than existing GOST designs.
