At the end of 2021, the Prodo group sold the Chikskaya poultry farm in the Novosibirsk Region to Chelyabinsk Poultry Farm JSC. About this January 10, 2022 wrote the newspaper "Kommersant."

The representative of Prodo noted that egg production is a non-core area for the group. After the transaction, she plans to focus on the development of assets in poultry and meat processing, as well as improving the overall efficiency of operations.

Experts interviewed by the newspaper believe that the transaction will allow Chelyabinsk Poultry Farm JSC to increase egg production by 40%, to more than 1 billion units per year. According to the general director of Rosptitsesoyuz Galina Bobyleva, this corresponds to the indicators of market leaders. The largest player by the beginning of 2022 is the Volzhanin poultry farm (produces about 1.5 billion eggs per year).

The Chelyabinsk poultry farm, according to its reporting, is one of the ten largest egg producers in Russia. By January 2022, she produces eggs under the brands Chepfa, Three Carriers, as well as under the trademarks Pyaterochki (part of the X5 Group), Magnit, VkusVilla and others.

Agrifood Strategies President Albert Davleev, in a conversation with the publication, noted that the average profitability in egg production is 3-5%, which is lower than in poultry production. In addition, poultry farms specializing in eggs and meat do not have synergy due to various production cycles and sales channels, he points out. According to the expert, because of this, large players prefer to build integration around one category. [1]
