2022: Smart Watch Announcement
On January 11, 2022, Louis Vuitton introduced the Tambour Horizon Light Up smartwatch. The novelty, unlike devices of previous generations, comes without the Google Wear OS and instead works on a specially designed operating system, the fashion house said.
The smartwatch also has a dialling ring with LED backlight for notifications. Specifications of the Tambour Horizon Light Up include the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC and a special pulsometer.
The cost of the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up starts at $3,300 for the polished steel option, and the Matte Black and Matte Brown models cost $3,600. The device is available for purchase worldwide through local Louis Vuitton websites and retailers.
Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up is a third-generation smart watch. The new model is the first in the series, equipped with buttons on both sides of the head, which will serve to increase the functionality of the clock. The head itself can be rotated to change the clock dial. Users can also access dial mode and configuration settings using the top button, and the bottom button acts as a quick access button to activate a specific application.
The Tambour Horizon backlight is also equipped with a proprietary ring with a Louis Vuitton monogram along the edge of the display, where 24 LEDs are available to inform users of notifications. Built-in indicators light up with a dancing kaleidoscope of colors when the clock is activated or notified, creating a fascinating animated effect of glow in the dark.
Like the various high-end smartwatches available on the market, the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up is equipped with a permanent display feature. The proprietary smart watch operating system also offers eight dial configurations. Users also have settings, including the ability to add their own initials with color and font selection.
Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up is equipped with a 1.2-inch round AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels and a pixel density of 320 pixels per inch. The display is protected by sapphire glass. The watch is also equipped with a Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, as well as 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of onboard memory.
Sensors on the smartwatch housing include a pulsometer, accelerometer, gyroscope and external illumination sensor. The watch also offers features, including My Day, which allows you to track your heart rate, calendar, steps, weather, and air quality index. There is also a "My Journey" feature that allows you to specify travel plans and receive boarding information directly for hours.
Tambour Horizon Light Up connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, and NFC. Smart watches are compatible with devices running at least Android 9.0, iOS 14, and HarmonyOS 2.0. It is also MFi certified.
Louis Vuitton claims that on one charge, the Tambour Horizon Light Up provides a day of normal use.[1]
