2022: Digitization on the basis of "ElarScan" books of the 19th century on the history of the Lipetsk Territory

With the help of the domestic planetary scanner ElarSkan A2-600, employees Lipetsk Regional Universal Scientific Library plan to digitize valuable local history publications. This was told in the company "Elar" on January 13, 2022.

Lipetsk Regional Universal Scientific Library has in the region a collection of books on all branches of knowledge. Its documentary fund is 2,388,849 copies, the rare book fund has more than 10 thousand copies. In the department of literature in foreign languages ​ ​ a collection of books from medieval Latin to modern times in 40 languages ​ ​ has been collected. The library acts as a modern cultural center focused on all generations.

"With the help of ElarSkan, our employees plan to digitize local history publications: agricultural surveys, statistical collections of the Lipetsk region, memorable date calendars, technical books published in the late XIX-first half of the XX century. The scanning of local periodicals will continue: Lipetsk Gazeta (1995-2004), Youth Bulletin (1991-2005), publications in Yelets, Lebedyani, p. Krasnoye, p. Lev-Tolstoy. Rare publications such as Essays on the Tambov Life of the 17th and 18th Centuries (1892) and Tambov Zemstvos of the 17th and early 18th Centuries (1898) by I. I. Dubasov, Our Economy magazine (1911), Avtomobilist newspaper of the 60s of the XX century were selected for scanning. With a universal scanner with the function of contactless careful scanning, even valuable copies can be digitized in high quality and without the risk of damage. Based on the received electronic copies will be created pdf-files editions recognizable with a layer for full-text search and a table of contents. And then - Internet copies close to the original. They will also be able to search, work with bookmarks, copy quotes, print individual pages or selected areas.
