Transmashholding (TMX) will deliver dozens of Ivolga trains to Buenos Aires for $864 million. The corresponding contract, the Russian company, as reported on January 20, 2022 by its press service, concluded with the Ministry of Transport of Argentina (Ministry of Transport of Argentina (Sisterio de Transporte).
Under the terms of the contract, TMX will transfer 70 AC electric trains (560 cars) to Argentina. The tender involves the development, production, supply and after-sales maintenance of 8-car electric trains for a gauge of 1676 mm. During several stages, not only technical and economic parameters were evaluated, but also the compliance of tenders with modern passenger expectations. In total, the process of selecting a supplier took more than 3 years.
It is noted that the supply of electric trains to Argentina is the first such project for TMX, which is supposed to be implemented in far abroad. It is expected that deliveries of products will begin 27 months after the entry into force of the contract and will end within four years. Trains will be involved in suburban traffic between Buenos Aires and satellite cities, the TMC said on January 20, 2022.
The Ivolga modification for Argentina will be designed by TMX, the largest engineering center in Russia, TMX Engineering, operating within the TMX group, whose divisions are located in 9 cities and have a total of more than 1,100 employees.
The Ivolga electric train platform is 100% Russian development, involving the use of the most modern technical solutions for organizing urban, suburban and interregional transportation at a speed of up to 160 km\h. Trains produced on its basis by more than 90% consist of Russian-made components, including all the main systems and units, which allows you to supply many Russian adjacent enterprises from various regions of the country with orders. For several years, about 25 thousand people from various Russian enterprises will be involved in the production of electric trains for Argentina.[1]
