2021: Introduction of a Virtual Driver Instructor

EPOL experts have created a virtual instructor for drivers of a mining enterprise in Chile. It monitors compliance with traffic rules and notifies drivers of violations even outside the GPRS zone. This became known on January 24, 2022. The solution was developed using Galileosky terminals and Easy Logic technology.

One of the requirements for optimal development of copper mining in Chile is the safety of mining. Vehicles are often out of the GPRS area, so it is not possible to configure the monitoring system through the server. EPOL experts used Galileosky 7x 3G and Easy Logic technology to develop an algorithm that tracks equipment, monitors compliance with traffic rules, and notifies drivers of violations.

The system allows you to set voice warnings in the cab of the vehicle about the speed limit in a certain geozone. Thus, the Bechtel mining company introduced speed control conditions so that drivers do not exceed 50 km/h. Galileosky terminals allow you to configure any work scenarios based on safety requirements and form up to 3,000 geozones. The system can be adapted to the requirements of various customers and work, including in extreme conditions at an altitude of more than 5200 meters above sea level. Work is done offline outside the GSM zone.

EPOL specialists also implemented a driver rating in the system. It is compiled on the basis of data from the monitoring system, which takes into account all violations, compliance with traffic rules, by drawing up schedules and reports. Such a measure leads to a constant improvement in driving style and road safety.

More than 2,000 Galileosky 7X 3G devices have already been installed on vehicles. Terminals are used mainly at the Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 (QB2) mining project in South America - one of the largest facilities in the world with an undeveloped supply of copper.
