In Russia, they began to use smart projectors instead of road lighting

Customers: Gazpromneft-Supply

Contractors: NII-Vektor

Project date: 2022/02

In mid-February 2022, it became known that in Russia they began to use smart projectors instead of road lighting. We are talking about the use of obo-projection technology developed by the Vector Research Institute of Vega Concern.

According to the press service of Roselectronik (this holding includes the Vega concern), the first batch of smart obo-projectors was delivered to the logistic operator Gazpromneft-Supply. This equipment projects a pedestrian crossing and a stop line, replacing the usual road markings. Devices provide additional control of hazardous areas and increase the efficiency of warehouse logistics. According to the developers, the resulting projection is noticeable in any weather conditions: a light beam with a brightness of 330 lux makes the image visible from a distance of 200 meters in conditions of snow, rain or fog.

Roselectronik also noted that the gobo-projector allows you to demonstrate a static image of high quality on any plane. The projection occurs by passing a beam of light through a gobo-mock-up stencil made of glass, metal or film. A new optical system with a projection distance of 1: 1.1 gives each meter of the height of the projector above the ground 1.1 meter of image length. Thanks to the brightness of the picture and the ability to quickly adjust, the equipment is an effective alternative to traditional navigation in the form of pointers, arrows, stop lines, signs for special equipment and marking rooms in industrial, warehouse and logistics complexes.

Due to the presence of an illumination sensor, the smart obo projector is turned on and off automatically, thereby saving power at the site during off-hours. The devices are protected against low temperatures and water.[1]
