2022: ER-Telecom invests 8.8 billion rubles in creating smart doorphones on Russian processors
On February 15, 2022, it became known about the investment by ER-Telecom Holding of about 8.8 billion rubles in the creation of smart intercom phones using Russian Milander processors. The company estimates the costs of the entire project at 13.6 billion rubles (subsidies are expected to account for 4.8 billion rubles).
The development of "smart doorphones" by ER-Telecom Holding appears in the list of end-to-end projects approved by the Public Expert Council on the Use of Electronics under the Presidium of the Government Information Technology Commission. The document was at the disposal of Kommersant. The representative of the company said to the newspaper that it is planned to create two models of intercom phones.
It is assumed that smart intercom phones will work using the Internet and are equipped with a video camera, they can be controlled through a mobile application. ER-Telecom plans to release such equipment together with Rostec Group of Companies on the basis of the Micron plant. Micron confirmed to the publication participation in the project.
Milander specified that they are participating in the project as a supplier of already mass-produced products, and not new technology.
For doorphones, powerful processors are not required, usually small and inexpensive microcircuits are used, produced using sufficiently "old" 180 nm technologies, "Sergey Shumilin, deputy head of the company, explained to the publication. |
At least MTS and Rostelecom will compete for the interest and money of buyers in the ER-Telecom Holding smart phone market. Both operators are actively working in the smart home segment.
