Project date: 2021/05  - 2021/12

2022: Inventory Automation

On March 2, 2022, the company EME announced that at the end of 2021 the project for the warehouse automation cable plant "" Vanguard(g.) Was completed St. Petersburg. Optimization of plant warehouses is another project in the portfolio of EMC solutions for the electrical industry.

Avangard plant specializes in the industrial production of cable products (fire-resistant cable, cable for fire alarm systems, power cable and AvangardLine fire-resistant cable line ). The developing company applies current production, logistics and management technologies in accordance with state standards.

The warehouse and internal logistics of the enterprise are organized in two warehouses - finished products and production.

Prior to the implementation of the project to automate warehouse accounting in both warehouses was managed by the corporate system "1C," all operations were carried out manually using paper technology. This entailed overhauls, losses in productivity, accuracy, transparency of processes and staff efficiency.

In this regard, it was decided to transfer the warehouse and production logistics of the cable plant under the control of professional WMS. The main goal of the project was to automate and optimize all warehouse processes taking into account the specific requirements of the electrical industry, as well as increase productivity while reducing personnel error losses.

For implementation, a specialized industry solution EME.WMS was used, which was developed taking into account the peculiarities of business processes in the electrical industry. The system is recommended by the Russian Association of Electrical Companies (RAEC).

"EME.WMS Electro" solves the following problems:

  • Taking into account the specifics and various technologies when working with cable products - processing operations of decontamination, heating, rewinding, cutting.
  • Split item accounting in different units (bays, drums, etc.);
  • Maintain batch records of goods by serial numbers, verification date, capacity, tariff, color, size, manufacturer, etc.
  • Get 100% information of actual inventory balances at any time time in different sections.
  • On-line execution of various inventory types - by storage areas, by product groups, by article lots, etc.

The project was launched in two stages. The first stage was the automation of the finished product warehouse, in the second place a production warehouse was launched.

EMC specialists, who are familiar with the specifics of the work of the electrical warehouse and the enterprise as a whole, were able to prepare the system for implementation in a short time.

When developing the production module, the task was set to reduce the costs of losing expensive raw materials - non-ferrous metals.

As a solution, a record was introduced for the product card, which contains the recipe. For each type of product, the consumption and weight of the required components was clearly determined: wire, rubber, etc. The process of transferring raw materials to production is formalized using shipping documentation, materials are written off from storage automatically. When finished products are received from the warehouse, recipe control is also carried out. The implementation of EME.WMS now allows you to flexibly change the recipe in case of a change in the type or class of raw materials.

Thanks to the clear functionality of the system and the proven implementation methodology, the customer implemented the implementation independently with the remote support of EMC specialists.

Both warehouses were transferred to EME.WMS Electro.

The main warehouse processes are automated: selection and delivery of raw materials for production, write-off of raw materials, acceptance from production, selection, shipment, loading into the vehicle, transfer between warehouses, inventory.

Project Outcomes:

  • The implemented system supports the execution and monitoring of the full cycle of business processes from production and selection of raw materials to shipment to the vehicle.
  • The speed of operations, the accuracy of selection, streamlined processes, losses decreased, and the main thing - the influence of the human factor significantly decreased.
  • All warehouse operations are performed by collection terminals data on. OS Android
  • EME.WMS is integrated  with the customer's  enterprise system "1C" by exchanging data through the integration portal.

"The implementation of EME.WMS allowed to streamline and accelerate the operations of production and warehouse, and not only. It is important that the proposed solution helped significantly reduce the losses from the incorrect use of expensive raw materials, and accounting on a recipe card now allows you to flexibly manage the supply of production, "-

commented on the results of the project by the director of logistics "Vanguard," Albert Malinin.

During the implementation process, a minimum number of improvements by the integrator were required.

All features of cable and small-piece products accounting were taken into account. Warehouse employees have been trained to work with EME.WMS.

During the project, EMC delivered equipment - Shipping Documentation CipherLAB RK25-2D-CL, RK25-2DMR, Godex ZX420i printers.

Cooperation between companies continues.
