Cable industry of Russia
Cable and conductor products are used in all sectors of the economy: in housing and communal services, construction, energy, transport, engineering, gas, oil and petrochemical industries.
Cable and conductor products include: fiber optic cables; cables for motor tf; cables, coaxial conductors; winding wires; electrical conductors, voltage more than 1000 v and others; electrical conductors, voltage not more than 1000 v.
2024: Sevkabel launched a new cable production plant in Pskov for ₽5 billion
On October 26, 2024, Sevkabel commissioned a new cable production plant in Pskov. The project, the cost of which amounted to ₽5 billion, was implemented on the basis of the assets of the St. Petersburg plant Sevkabel, which went bankrupt in 2020. Funds for modernization and conversion were allocated by the industrial holding Akron Holding, which acquired the assets of the enterprise after the bankruptcy process was completed. Read more here.
2023: Communication cable production in Russia increased by 31.4% over the year, to 3,012 km of cables
Russian enterprises produced 3,012 km of long-distance cables in 2023, which is 31.4% more than in 2022. The average annual increase in production in this segment for the period 2017-2023 amounted to 8.6%. This became known in December 2024 from a published marketing study by TK Solutions,

The Volga Federal District is the leader in the production of both types of cables, providing 76.6% of the production of long-distance cables and 76.4% of telephone cables. In second place is the Central Federal District with 22.8% for long-distance cables and 23.5% for telephone cables.
The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia confirms positive trends in the cable industry. In 2023, output in the cable and cable fittings sector showed an increase of 10.1% after a decline of 8.4% in 2022, indicating a recovery in the industry.
The main market share is occupied by the cable product segment for a voltage of no more than 1 kV, which accounts for 46% of the total production volume. The total production of cable products in 2023 reached ₽484 billion, an increase of 7% compared to the previous period.
For the period from 2017 to 2023, the average growth rate in the cable industry was 8.8%. This indicates the stable development of the industry and successful import substitution in the production of cable products for various sectors of the economy.[1]
2022: Production of fully domestic cables for heat tracing systems launched in Mordovia
The company "Leader-Compound" launched Saransk Mordovia into the production of fully domestic cables for electrical heating systems. Part of the funds for the purchase Industrial Development Fund of equipment provided, which reported this on July 12, 2022. More. here

The volume of the cable market amounted to 8,430 thousand km in 2015, which is 18% less than in 2014. In the cable market structure, winding wires and electrical conductors for a voltage of not more than 1 kV are the largest share.
The volume of cable production in Russia in 2015 decreased by 16.3% compared to 2014. The volume of cable imports to Russia in 2015 in physical terms decreased by 28% compared to 2014, and in value terms decreased by 37.3%.
The average price of manufacturers for cables and wires for communication was set in 2015 at 71,143 rubles/km, for fiber-optic cables - 44,826 rubles/km, for cables and wires for data transmission, control, control and signaling - 23,226 rubles/km, for coaxial cables and conductors - 7,583 rubles/km.
2010: Capacity of the Russian cable and conductor market - about $5 billion
As of 2010, there are about 36 large cable factories in Russia. According to current estimates, the capacity of the Russian cable and conductor market is about $5 billion (according to pre-crisis estimates - more than $6 billion), and the annual growth potential is 35%. The main share in the production structure is occupied by power wires and cords (45%) and power cables (39%). This is due to the fact that 70% of cable-conductor products produced in Russia go to the acquisition of the energy sector of the economy, in the development of which huge funds are invested, in particular, under the investment programs of Rosatom, RusHydro, TGC and OGK.
The needs of the Russian cable and conductor market are now fully met by domestic production: imports occupy no more than 14% of the domestic market. The main importing countries are traditionally Germany (19%), Korea and China (11% each) and Ukraine (8.5%).
