2023: NB-IoT Network Data Optimization Technology Testing
Company MTS"" power grid and PJSC Rosseti Siberia"," a subsidiary of PJSC Rosseti"," in cooperation with partners tested on the internet of things MTS of NB-IoT standard technology data NIDD (Non-IP data delivery) transmission optimization network, which will reduce costs, increase efficiency safety and monitor supplies and consumption. This was announced electric power on April 17, 2023 by MTS.
Testing of data transfer from electricity metering devices to the automated information and measuring system of commercial electricity metering (AIIS KUE) was carried out at the Rosseti Siberia site within the framework of a working group, which also includes manufacturers of metering devices and related equipment - LLC NARTIS Plant, JSC GC Systems and Technologies, LLC Larteh, JSC Energomer, LLC NPK Incotex, LLC RED BIS.
Non-IP Data Delivery (NIDD) optimization technology eliminates the support of the IP protocol stack on the NB-IoT network, which reduces the time devices are active, provides more equipment in one location and improves energy efficiency. NIDD also provides increased information security: communication with the device is possible only through a special node on the MTS network - Service Capability Exposure Function (SCEF), such an architecture significantly reduces the likelihood of hacking the device.
The use of NIDD mode simplifies the configuration of metering devices as much as possible, since it eliminates the need to enter server parameters (IP and port) into the modem of the metering device. As a result, individual commissioning is not required during the initial installation of the device, which greatly simplifies and reduces the start-up of the automated system.
The NB-IoT mobile data transmission standard in metering devices enables companies to ensure guaranteed collection of readings anywhere in Russia thanks to the wide coverage of the MTS network. And the use of NIDD technology ensures the operation of devices from hard-to-reach places with a high concentration of equipment in one location, and also allows organizing group data delivery. The company expects that after standardizing the solution, its functionality can be widely demanded by organizations and companies in the field of power, fuel and energy complex, housing and communal services and industry, |
This solution demonstrates excellent optimization, allowing energy companies to improve the process of monitoring the supply of electricity to consumers and reduce the cost of maintaining the entire system. NIDD technology provides a high degree of security and reduces network load. To standardize the transmitted parameters, within the framework of the working group, an extension of the special profile of SPODES is being developed, which takes into account all regulatory requirements and features of data transmission in the NB-IoT network using NIDD technology. To standardize this technology, the working group also plans to conduct a pilot project using the SPODES protocol by the end of 2023. commented on Dmitry Lagunin, Director of Information Technology - Head of the Department of Corporate and Technological Automated Management Systems of PJSC Rosseti Siberia.

The tested solution fully complies with the requirements of Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 890 of the 19.06.2020 for the exchange of data between the electric energy meter and the intelligent accounting system itself. Until the release of the standardized SPODES-Lite protocol for the NB-IoT/NIDD network, testing will continue using proprietary data transfer protocols from metering devices.
2022: Introduction of IoT technologies
On March 4, 2022, the company MTS"," the Russian a company providing digital, media telecommunication and services, announced the conclusion of an agreement with the company "" (Rosseti Siberia subsidiary of ""), Rosseti one of the large power grid companies in and. Siberian Far Eastern Federal Districts The partnership involves the realisation of a pilot project to introduce technologies in. internet of things accounting system electric power Krasnoyarsk Territory
The agreement was signed by the technical director of MTS in the Krasnoyarsk Territory Vadim Valenko and the director of information technology - head of the department of corporate and technological automated control systems of Rosseti Siberia Dmitry Lagunin.
As part of the pilot project, MTS will provide remote monitoring and collection data from electricity metering devices of Rosseti Siberia on the basis of its own network NB-IoT using technology. NIDD (Non-IP Data Delivery) Optimization will allow the energy company to optimize the process of monitoring the supply of electricity to consumers and reduce the cost of maintaining the entire system. NIDD technology will provide a high degree safety and reduce the load on the network, while increasing the time work of the to infrastructure IoT devices involved.
The companies plan to test the solution at an experimental stand in Rosseti Siberia, and then introduce the development into the automated information and measuring system of commercial electricity metering (AIIS KUE) of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
"This project is the result of work on the implementation of federal law No. 522-FZ on the development of electricity accounting systems. An important feature of the NB-IoT network with which the project will be implemented, optimized penetration, which provides a stable signal even in places that are difficult to reach for other communication standards. Also, complete automation of the process complies with the legislative requirements, which came into force from 2022, on the obligation of energy companies to provide consumers with intelligent metering devices, "- commented
on the technical director of MTS in the Krasnoyarsk Territory Vadim Valenko. |
"The implementation of this joint project will allow us to develop an architecture of information systems and optimize the existing AIIS KUE systems in our company. This optimization will provide significant savings: it will allow us to abandon intermediate equipment - data collection and transmission devices, thereby reducing the cost of maintaining the entire system, "- said Dmitry Lagunin, Director of Information Technology - Head of the Department of Corporate and Technological Automated Control Systems of Rosseti Siberia. |
