PSS Ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles

2022: Start testing fast charging station at 240 kW

On February 24, 2022, PSS Corporation, a Russian manufacturer of charging stations for electric transport, announced the launch of testing of an innovative ultra-fast charging station at 240 kW.

The station is designed to solve one of the key problems of the owner of an electric car and reduce the battery charge time in the city or on the highway to comfortable values ​ ​ of 10-20 minutes. Nissan Leaf (the most common electric car in Russia) charges on average per hour, Tesla - about 2 hours.

"There are no such power stations in Russia. And we were the first to implement this technology. In addition to high power, the station has a dynamic charge balancing function, which makes it possible to charge three electric vehicles simultaneously. This minimizes the waiting time. Nowadays, when time is a valuable resource, an ultra-fast charging station will help the owners of electric cars always stay in dynamics, " said Maxim Politov, Development Director of PSS Corporation

The power consumed during charging is limited by the electric vehicles themselves, most of them cannot take more than 150 kW. However, all automakers are focused on significantly increasing the receiving capacity of their electric cars. In the next year or two, when cars capable of consuming 240 kW or more will enter the market, ultra-fast charging stations will be in great demand both from electric motorists who want to quickly get a charged battery, and from charging infrastructure operators and investors who want to install demanded equipment with a foreseeable payback period, according to the PSS.

In addition, the manufacturer states that the station pays special attention to the safety of the operation of charging stations. With the help of advanced technologies, high-quality components and innovative software of our own development, comprehensive security of charging stations is provided - human security, security for an electric car and cybersecurity. The ultra-fast station has received an updated attractive design, which will harmoniously integrate into the infrastructure of any modern city. For routes and places remote from the center, a modification of the station in anti-vandal version is provided. The development of the PSS Corporation has already aroused keen interest from charging infrastructure operators and investors, the launch of the station into mass production is planned for the 3rd quarter of 2022.

The concept of the Government of the Russian Federation for the development of the production and use of electric road transport in the Russian Federation, developed in August 2021, involves the installation of 29 thousand fast electric charging stations in the period until 2030. The production of high-power stations will be a good incentive for the development of electric transport infrastructure in Russia, providing electric vehicle owners with a quick tool for charging cars, and owners of traditional cars with ICE (internal combustion engine) will push to switch to a more environmentally friendly "clean" mode of transport.
