At the end of March 2022, the president Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree by which he extended the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of genetic Technologies (FNTP) until 2030. Initially, it was designed until 2027, it was planned to spend 127 billion for the implementation of the project, rubles including 115 billion rubles of budget funds. More than 100 scientific organizations and universities participate in its implementation.

Putin extended the program for the development of genetic technologies until 2030

The main goals (FNTP) are the comprehensive solution of the problems of accelerated development of genetic technologies, including genetic editing technologies, the creation of scientific and technological reserves for medicine, agriculture and industry, and the improvement of the system for preventing biological emergencies and control in this area.

Vladimir Putin instructed to extend the program until 2030 in January 2022. At the same time, until September 1, 2022, it was instructed to clarify the target indicators, indicators and the amount of resource support for the project, as well as to create a mechanism for the introduction of applied results in the field of genetic technologies in industry in the country.

Until July 10, 2022, the government should also amend the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, which will give the program's technological partners and their "daughters" the right to reduce the calculated income tax by an amount equal to 50% of the costs associated with the development of genetic technologies. Rosneft is the program's leading technology partner[1]
