According to the company, with the participation of the Center of NTI "Digital Materials Science: New Materials and Substances," the classrooms at Bauman University were equipped with the COMPAS-3D software complex with applications for mechanical engineering design and strength analysis, where the use of CAD class products is necessary.

Functional performance testing of COMPAS-3D was carried out in the Alt Formation 9 operating system under the control of the modified WINE complex. As a result, COMPAS-3D is recognized as meeting the requirements of the educational process and is recommended for use in the educational process and conducting engineering and scientific activities of MSTU. In the autumn semester, 42 groups of students were trained in the basics of engineering graphics using the COMPAS-3D program, in the spring semester the number of groups was already 123.

The main task of testing was to determine the degree of functional compliance of replacement software products with a list of more than 75 basic requirements that are regularly used in solving educational and engineering problems of the university. Specialists of the Voskhod Research Institute, together with representatives of MSTU, specifically for testing, developed a set of 14 verification tasks for solid-state modeling and the development of design documentation related to various fields of technology. The testing was recognized as successful, COMPASS-3D demonstrated the proper degree of functional compliance with the basic requirements and is already used in the training process.

I note that for MSTU it was important not only to comply with CAD functional requirements, but also its correct operation in domestic operating systems. Together with Ethersoft, in the framework of cooperation, we have established the interaction of COMPAS-3D with the WINE @ Etersoft product: support for the operation of COMPAS-3D and applications in the Alt OS is provided without loss of functionality and speed of CAD. The solution tested by MSTU can be applied by educational institutions and enterprises. COMPASS-3D and WINE @ Etersoft work together with ASCON and Ethersoft technical support services. COMPASS-3D v20 and all subsequent versions will be developed, including taking into account the use case managed by Wine.
