2022: Start testing post offices at home

On April 4, 2022, the Russian Post announced the start of testing post offices of a different format. They are completely autonomous, due to which they can be installed in the entrances of residential buildings or on the street. Their developer is SIGBOX. The first 10 post offices began to work in the village of Otradnoye in the Moscow region. The pilot project will last until the end of 2022.

Post offices at home significantly save customers' time, and in the future they will appear in the entrances. This will allow customers to receive parcels actually with home delivery, but at the same time not to contact the courier and not depend on the delivery time.

Such mailers do not need to be connected to the mains to the Internet and - the exchange data takes place through IoT a network without -cards, SIM wires or. satellite communications A one-time access code for opening a cell and receiving a parcel comes in sms a message, and then is entered on the code lock. The devices are also resistant to acts of vandalism and. hacker to the attacks

We test various "last mile" formats to find the most comfortable solutions for our customers. It is convenient for someone to pick up parcels on the subway, someone prefers to go to post offices, and someone is delighted with our robo-delivery. Now we want to understand how convenient the post offices of the "at home" format will be. The developer of these mail machines, SIGBOX, participated in our corporate accelerator, so we immediately understood the features of the devices and could take them into account in the implementation, which accelerated the inclusion of mail machines in the mail network, - said Nikita Zhuchkov, head of the project office of open innovations.

Within the framework of cooperation with Russian Post, we have developed a special configuration of compact post offices, which occupy little space and easily fit into the infrastructure of access areas of residential buildings. We believe that the use of SIGBOX wireless mail machines will not only unload Russian Post offices, but will also help significantly expand the geography of parcel delivery points due to the ability to install them anywhere without electricity and the Internet, thereby ensuring step-by-step availability to the point of delivery of parcels, - said SIGBOX CEO Eric Brisset[1].
