Half a million installations

In June 2022, RuMarket - the Russian store of applications for Android devices - continued its growth and has already crossed the 500,000 installation mark.

App Store Updates: Enhanced Search and Device Support

On June 9, 2022 store developers applications , RuMarket was informed that it was continuing to develop and add features. The service hosts more than 90 applications, and the number of users has exceeded 400,000.

RuMarket is gaining an audience and building the project architecture in such a way that additional functionality can be quickly connected on its basis. The creators of the service made the following changes:

• Optimized the application search system to take into account not only the name, but also other fields.
• We changed the volume and design of the icons, made them more informative, intuitive.
• Updated the design of the section with a list of categories.
• Connected the ability to read a line with system information in a dark theme on all devices.
• Optimized support for devices and stability on the Android 5 and 6 platform. (We have improved the'compatibility' mode, which can be turned on through settings and helps to work correctly on some versions).
• Displayed the date of adding the application to RuMarket
• Optimized the process of installing applications - it starts automatically immediately after loading.
• Corrected the search string and rare errors that occur when leaving sleep mode.

On April 16, 2022, it became known that the general director of the Russian division of Gett presented the first release of the RuMarket application store for the infrastructure of Android devices. So far, it is at the demo stage and is already available to both regular users and corporate customers. As of April 2022, about 20 mobile Russian applications are available there, including mobile services from the city of Moscow.

A company representative said that it is negotiating with many domestic developers, including Sber, Yandex, VK and others, to add their application to the site. So far, there are applications of banks removed from Google Play, for example, Promsvyazbank.

RuMarket developers explained that the first version of their app store will be free for both users and developers. Then it is planned to expand its capabilities: adding monetization, differentiating applications by user rating and security. They clarified that all mobile applications on the platform will be moderated and checked by the system for viruses.

Technically, RuMarket developers violate the terms of the F-Droid GNU GPL V3 license. According to them, third-party developers have the right to change the F-Droid client at their discretion, but in addition to the binary file, they must publish the client's source codes, which they did not.

Experts believe that it will take at least six months to create a domestic analogue of Google Play. Another year is needed to form a significant base of applications in the service library ^[1]].
