2022: Presented an Information Systems Optimization Solution

On April 27, 2022, IBS announced the preparation of a comprehensive proposal for optimizing information systems. In the face of a shortage of components, companies need to audit the IT landscape in order to maintain the ability to develop new products in the current capacity environment.

After the introduction of import restrictions and the withdrawal of some foreign vendors from the market, high-tech businesses have a problem of lack of equipment, components and hardware, on which the further scaling and development of information systems completely depends. Even with the existing safety margin, the impossibility of new purchases may lead Russian companies to abandon the development of new products, since their resources will be fully used to maintain the work of critical services. Optimization of application and system software can be the solution.

When implementing information systems in the last decade, companies rarely focused on improving software performance - as a rule, any drawdowns were solved by buying new servers. As a result, great potential for work in this direction has accumulated. As IBS projects show, by optimizing software, in most cases it is possible to increase system performance by 1.5, and often more than 3 times,
said Nikolai Marchenko, head of load testing at the IBS testing center.

IBS has prepared a comprehensive proposal that includes four phases:

  • carrying out load tests to identify "bottlenecks" in the software;
  • IT audit to find the causes of inefficiencies and make recommendations for their elimination;
  • correcting software and DBMS issues;
  • Re-load testing to confirm results.

Load testing to optimize performance is recommended:

  • for highly loaded systems with more than 500 users, as well as core systems of organizations;
  • in the absence of backup equipment or if optimization has never been carried out and there is no understanding of the capacity of the software and the current equipment;
  • in the case of reputational risks and monetary losses of more than 10 million rubles per day due to IT system downtime.

IBS specialists will conduct a survey of the current landscape, load testing and localization of bottlenecks. Testing consists of several stages: preparation of the technical assignment, development of the procedure for its implementation, preparation of the bench and means of load testing, testing and fixation of the results. On their basis, an optimization proposal will be formed. Optimization work can be carried out directly by IBS specialists or by the customer's own efforts.
