IBS Platformix Improves Fault Tolerance of OCBM Africans IT Infrastructure

2022: Backup Data Center Completion

On April 29, 2022, IBS Platformix system integrator announced the completion of the creation of the reserve data center of OKBM Afrikantov JSC, located at the production site in Nizhny Novgorod. As a result, high availability of information systems and fault tolerance of the infrastructure were ensured. Now the design bureau will be able to develop advanced energy equipment in a predictable and stable information environment.

To meet the existing and future needs of the enterprise for computing resources, as well as to implement a fault-tolerant scheme of functioning of the enterprise information services, we needed extremely reliable and efficient solutions. We have deployed a backup data center without interrupting the main activities of the enterprise. A task of this magnitude requires effective interaction between the parties throughout the project. The extensive experience of IBS Platformix in the construction of data centers and the high technical qualification of the design team of OKBM Afrikantov made it possible to create a reliable infrastructure and implement the project within the agreed time frame, noted Vasily Vasiliev, leading system architect of IBS Platformix.

Prior to the start of the project, OKBM Afrikantov reserved IT resources only for the most critical information systems. At the same time, redundant and redundant systems were located on the same equipment and did not allow to guarantee the system's operability when the device failed. The goal of the project was to ensure high availability of information systems, which is achieved through the complete redundancy of the entire IT infrastructure and the territorial distribution of the main and backup data centers.

IBS Platformix fully implemented the project in 8 months and completed the reconstruction of the premises and modernization of all key systems: engineering infrastructure, data network, storage infrastructure, computing platform, backup and disaster recovery systems. The system integrator created two distributed virtualization clusters on primary and backup data center resources. The virtualization environment configuration now ensures that all systems are operational even when the primary data center is completely disconnected. IBS Platformix also migrated information systems to the created clusters, replaced worn out network equipment, configured monitoring tools, increased port capacity and network performance.

The result of the project was to ensure fault tolerance of the entire IT infrastructure of the enterprise. OKBM Afrikantov can now guarantee the continuity of business processes - in case of any failure in the operation of technology, all processes are redirected to the reserve site, while for the employees of the design bureau such a transition will be invisible.
